On April 19th, hiphop lost a very special and extremely talented MC. Keith Elam better, known as GURU (Gifted Unlimited Rhymes Universal), passed away last Monday at the age of 44 after suffering from multiple myolema.
GURU, who arguably had one of the greatest voices to ever bless a mic, formed the legendary hiphop duo GangStarr with iconic producer/DJ, DJ Premier. I am honored to say that I had the privilege to meet Keith and work with him on several photo shoots. Aside from A Tribe Called Quest, there is no other hiphop formation that influenced us more growing up. We send our condolences to GURU's family and loved ones and end this tribute with our all time favorite GangStarr lyrics:
